The Paul Hornung Award

Date Changes Announced for Selection of Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse

Finalists to be Selected after Conference Championships, Winner Selected after Bowl Games

Louisville, Ky. – Nov. 12, 2020 – Finalists for the Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse, given annually to the most versatile player in major college football, will be announced on Dec. 23 and the winner will be announced on Jan. 6. The dates were changed from Nov. 11 and Dec. 9, respectively, due to the massive scheduling adjustments in college football, according to Karl F. Schmitt Jr., president and CEO of the Louisville Sports Commission, owners and operators of the Award.

Voting for finalists by the 17-member national selection committee will take place after the completion of all conference games and conference championships games. Voting for the winner will take place after all bowl games. Fan voting at paulhornungaward.com will continue through the Jan. 2.

“In staying true to our mission, we made these date changes to provide college football players across the country the maximum number of opportunities to demonstrate versatility on the field,” Schmitt said. “These are extraordinary times and players are making extraordinary sacrifices to compete. As stewards of the Paul Hornung Award, we want to do our part to reward these young men by acknowledging outstanding performances. We also want to emphasize that these dates are subject to change based on any additional scheduling adjustments that might occur during the remainder of the college football season.”

The Louisville Sports Commission successfully launched the Paul Hornung Award in 2010 to honor its namesake and native son, and to promote outstanding performances by versatile college football players who often go unnoticed.
