2017 Derby City Cup Cyclocross Event Set for New Course in Joe Creason Park

Derby City Cup will Serve as Test Event for 2018 USA Cycling Cyclocross Nationals

Louisville, Ky. – September 13, 2017 – World-class cyclocross racing makes its debut on a brand new course at Louisville’s Joe Creason Park on Nov. 4-5 when the nation’s top professional, amateur, and masters riders gather for the 10th annual Derby City Cup and the UCI Pan-American Cyclocross Championships.

The two days of racing in November also will serve as the test event for the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships that will be held Dec. 11, 2018, at Joe Creason Park. The Derby City Cup, which includes UCI C2 races for pro men/women and juniors, will be the only time that amateur and professional cyclocross riders in the U.S. will have the opportunity to ride competitively on the Joe Creason course prior to the 2018 National Championships.

Winners Announced for Louisville pure tap® 5K

 

Louisville, Ky. – September 9, 2017 – With nearly 1,000 registered participants, the Louisville pure tap® 5K went off this morning under cool and sunny conditions at race start. Race participants started and finished at the Louisville Water Tower, home of Louisville’s drinking water, and followed a course that ran east and west on River Road.

Michael Eaton of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s division in a time of 14:38.86, ahead of second-place finisher Andrew Carnes of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time of 15:08.59. Chelsea Vane of Ellicott City, Md., won the women’s division in 19:06.55, beating Jaydon Cirincione of Georgetown, Ind., who finished in 20:24.67.

Louisville Regatta Grand Prix Roars into Louisville August 18 – 20

Louisville, Ky. – August 10, 2017 – International Outboard Grand Prix (IOGP) Powerboats will take control of Louisville’s waterfront on August 18-20 for the third race of the IOGP F1 ChampBoat Championship series racing season, setting the stage for an exciting weekend of racing, entertainment, and fun on the Ohio River in downtown Louisville.

Teams from across North America will converge on Waterfront Park to compete in the inaugural Louisville Regatta Grand Prix with the most-nimble power boats in the world that generate more G-forces than any other racing machine with top speeds of 150 MPH.

Eight Local Athletes to Compete in 2017 UCI BMX World Championships July 25-29

Louisville, Ky. – July 25, 2017 – Eight riders from Derby City BMX will participate in the 2017 UCI BMX World Championships July 25-29 in Rock Hill, S. C. Derby City BMX oversees the local grassroots development program and competition for ages three through adult and seniors. The local riders will be part of the World Championship that includes more than 3,300 riders from the across the US and 40 countries.
