Players Represent Power Five Conferences Big Ten, Big 12, Pac-12, and ACC
Louisville, Ky. – November 9, 2017 – Three offense stars who are prolific return specialists and a stalwart middle linebacker who spots plays at quarterback and special teams have been named finalists for the eighth annual Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse to the most versatile player in major college football. Chosen as finalists by a 17-member Selection Committee are: Saquon Barkley (Penn State), Nyheim Hines (NC State), Joel Lanning (Iowa State), and Dante Pettis (Washington).

New Venue to Showcase USA Cycling ProCX Races, Grand Finale of Sho-Air US Cup-CX Series and Pan-American Cyclocross Championships
Louisville, Ky. – October 27, 2017 – A new cyclocross course at Joe Creason Park will debut at the 11th annual Derby City Cup for amateur and professional cyclocross competitions Nov. 4-5. Athletes and spectators also will be treated to new sounds and tastes at the B4 Festival – bikes, bands, beer, and barbeque – at the venue on Nov. 4 during the world-class bicycle competitions.

Louisville, Ky. – October 21, 2017 – With more than 3,200 registered participants, the Louisville Sports Commission’s Urban Bourbon Half Marathon presented by Jim Beam® went off this morning under cool, sunny skies at race start.
Andrew Carnes of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s half marathon in a time of 1:08:45, edging second-place finisher Andy Knapp of Shelby, Ohio, who clocked a time of 1:09:04.

Louisville, Ky. – September 30, 2017 – With more than 1,300 registered participants, the Norton Sports Health Great Pumpkin 10K went off this morning under cool and sunny conditions. The Great Pumpkin 10K was held in The Parklands of Floyds Fork; it is the second race in the Louisville Sports Commission’s three-race Fall Runathon Series.
Constantine Matsakis of Ellicott City, Md., won the men’s division in a time of 33:11.65, ahead of second-place finisher Ali Faraji-Tajrishi of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time 35:30.73. Chelsea Vane of Ellicott City, Md., won the women’s division in 39:34.35 beating Andrea Doogs of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 40:26.07. Vane also won the 2017 Louisville pure tap® 5k, the first race in the Louisville Sports Commission’s Fall Runathon series.

Derby City Cup will Serve as Test Event for 2018 USA Cycling Cyclocross Nationals
Louisville, Ky. – September 13, 2017 – World-class cyclocross racing makes its debut on a brand new course at Louisville’s Joe Creason Park on Nov. 4-5 when the nation’s top professional, amateur, and masters riders gather for the 10th annual Derby City Cup and the UCI Pan-American Cyclocross Championships.
The two days of racing in November also will serve as the test event for the USA Cycling Cyclocross National Championships that will be held Dec. 11, 2018, at Joe Creason Park. The Derby City Cup, which includes UCI C2 races for pro men/women and juniors, will be the only time that amateur and professional cyclocross riders in the U.S. will have the opportunity to ride competitively on the Joe Creason course prior to the 2018 National Championships.
