Seven Individuals Selected to Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame Class of 2018

Kentucky Lottery Signs on as Presenting Sponsor of Hall of Fame

Louisville, Ky. – June 27, 2018 – Seven individuals who have made outstanding contributions to sports during the past several decades have been selected as the 2018 class of the Kentucky Athletic Hall of Fame fueled by the Kentucky Lottery (KAHOF).

Comprising the 41st KAHOF class are: Sam Ball (Henderson), a consensus All-American offensive lineman at the University of Kentucky and Super Bowl champion; Bob Baffert, five-time Derby winner and two-time Triple Crown winning trainer; Bob Beatty, 13-time state championship-winning football coach at Trinity High School in Louisville; Bernie Bickerstaff (Benham), 33-year veteran NBA coach, administrator, and scout; Nicky Hayden (Owensboro; now deceased), MotoGP world championship motorcycle racer known as The Kentucky Kid; and Ken and Sarah Ramsey (Artimus), multiple-time leader owners at Churchill Downs, Keeneland, Turfway Park, and Kentucky Downs and among the most prolific thoroughbred owners and breeders ever in the Commonwealth.

Louisville Sports Commission Announces New Board Members

Louisville, KY – June 21, 2018 – The Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) announced the appointment of seven new members to its board of directors and re-election of four members. The new and re-elected board members will be serving a three-year term of July 1, 2018 through June 30, 2021. The LSC also welcomes a new slate of officers, including John Willmoth, managing partner of Poplar Ventures, who was elected as chairman of the board.

Louisville Sports Commission Earns Sports Travel Industry’s Highest Award

Named Sports Commission of the Year by National Trade Association

Louisville, Ky. – April 26, 2018 – The Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) today was named the 2017 Large Market Sports Commission of the Year by the sports travel industry’s national trade association. The announcement was made by National Association of Sports Commission (NASC) President & CEO Alan Kidd at the organization’s annual symposium being held in Minneapolis. The selection was made by an NASC national committee comprised of peer organizations and national sports event rights holders.

Inaugural Bluegrass World Series Baseball Tournament Coming to Louisville July 30 – Aug. 4

Event Featuring Former MLB Players, Current College Stars will be Held at Slugger Field

Louisville, Ky. – February 23, 2018 – The inaugural Bluegrass World Series, a tournament that will feature seven collegiate wood bat teams and a team comprised of 35 retired major league players, will be held at Louisville Slugger Field from July 30 – Aug. 4, 2018.

The Bluegrass World Series was created based the vision of the Louisville Bats’ owners Stuart and Jerry Katzoff to bring a week-long family-orientated event to Louisville that would celebrate baseball, family, and community.
