After 149 Kentucky Derbys, Louisville Knows Sports

Louisville, Ky. – September 10, 2016 – With nearly 1,200 registered participants, the Louisville pure tap® 5K went off this morning under warm and sunny conditions at race start. Race participants started and finished at the Louisville Water Tower, home of Louisville’s drinking water, and followed a course that ran east and west on River Road.

Solomon Bennett of New Albany, Ind., won the men’s division in a time of 16:43.91, ahead of second-place finisher Patrick Hynes of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time of 16:54.95. Alissa Bennett of New Albany, Ind., won the women’s division in 18:58.76, beating Shelley Cameron of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 20:26.02. This is the second year in a row that a husband and wife won the men’s and women’s division.

Colorado Springs, Col. – The NWBA and Louisville Sports Commission are excited to announce that the National Wheelchair Basketball Tournament (NWBT), presented by ABC Medical, will be held in Louisville, Kentucky, from 2017-2018. The NWBT has been hosted in Louisville from 2013-16. The 2017 tournament will be held from March 29-April 2, and will mark the 10^th time that the bluegrass state has hosted the world’s largest single sporting event for athletes with disabilities.

Louisville, Ky. – April 26, 2016 – Carol Wells is the winner of the Louisville Sports Commission’s sixth annual Golden Ticket raffle. Rachel Collier, WDRB news anchor, drew Well’s ticket during today’s noon newscast.

Wells purchased one of 350 raffle tickets for $100 and won the Golden Ticket grand prize – two tickets to each of the following sporting events:
