15th Annual North American One-Armed Golfers Association Championships

June 24, 2015 – Louisville, Ky. – Forty of the best one-armed golfers from the United States and abroad – including the top three players in the world and four veteran players from the local area – will compete in the 15th Annual North American One-Armed Golfers Association (NAOAGA) Championships June 28 – July 2 at four courses in Louisville and Southern Indiana. Champions will be crowned in three separate divisions in a traditional tournament format with the first two days of stroke play competition to determine the low eight qualifiers in each division, and the qualifiers moving on to match play. Non-qualifiers will continue to participate in a series of alternate shot and best ball events throughout the tournament.

Louisville Sports Commission Golden Ticket Winner Drawn on WAVE-3 Listens

Louisville, Ky. – April 22, 2015 – Mary Casey, who purchased her ticket as an anniversary gift for her husband Joe Perkowski, is the winner of the Louisville Sports Commission’s fifth annual Golden Ticket raffle.

Casey purchased one of 350 raffle tickets for $100 and won the Golden Ticket grand prize – two tickets to each of the following sporting events:

• 2015 Kentucky Derby and Oaks
• 2015 Senior PGA Championship
• All 2015-16 University of Louisville regular season home basketball and football games
• All 2015-16 University of Louisville women’s regular season home basketball games
• 2015 Quaker State 400 at the Kentucky Speedway
• 2015 Louisville Bats regular season home games
• 2016 Paul Hornung Award Banquet

Hosting NCAA tournament hoops ‘a smashing success’

Earlier this month, The Wall Street Journal declared our community “the college basketball capital of the world,” stating that Louisville has “entered a rarified group of cities with…[an] unhinged devotion to a single sport.”

Last week, everyone who found themselves in downtown Louisville would have agreed as we watched a sea of blue engulf our streets during the NCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championship Second and Third Round, bringing an estimated $6 million in new green to our community.
