Four of the nation’s top collegiate volleyball teams will open the 2024 women’s season at the AVCA First Serve Showcase on Aug. 27. A doubleheader will take place at the KFC Yum! Center, the same venue where the NCAA DI Women’s Volleyball National Championship will be held in December. This will be the first night of DI women’s volleyball in 2024 and promises to kick off the season with a bang!
The USA BMX Derby City Nationals has been held in Louisville since the 1980s. Competitors in this year’s event will include Olympic athletes, professional BMX racers from all over the world and the U.S.’s fastest amateur riders.
Come play where the pros play at the new world-class training facility. The event offers an elite competitive environment within one location for U8 – U14 divisions and lit turf fields.
The Louisville Pure Tap® 5K will be held at the historic Louisville Water Tower. The race begins and ends at the home of Louisville’s drinking water, following a flat course that runs east and west on River Road. Race participants are invited to bring their dogs to participate. There will be an additional $10 fee to register dogs, with proceeds supporting Friends of Metro Animal Services.
The event kicks off with music, light snacks and refreshments, allowing runners and walkers plenty of time to get warmed up and ready to go! The course goes through the Kentucky Exposition Center grounds and Kentucky Kingdom where participants get to enjoy live music throughout the course.
