Oregon’s Edward Cheserek, Notre Dame’s Molly Seiden Win NCAA XC Titles

Syracuse Wins Men’s Team Title; New Mexico Dominates Women’s Field

Louisville, Ky., – November 21, 2015 – Under gray skies and blustery mid-40-degree temperatures, Oregon superstar Edward Cheserek ran the second-fastest 10-kilometer race ever at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park – 28.45.8 – to become the first competitor ever to win three consecutive NCAA Division I Cross Country National Championships. Villinova’s Patrick Tiernan, who ran stride-for-stride with Cheserek until the final 1,500 meters, finished second, followed by Pierce Murphy of Colorado. The men’s race was the second of the day and finished just ahead of a quick-moving front that brought cold rain and rapidly dropping temperatures.

Louisville, Ky. – Thursday, November 19, 2015 – Three defensive stars who provide their teams offensive energy and a workhorse all-purpose offensive back have been named finalists for the sixth annual Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse and given to the most versatile player in major college football. The four players – Adoree’ Jackson (Southern Cal), Robert Nkemdiche (Ole Miss), Christian McCaffrey (Stanford) and Jabrill Peppers (Michigan) represent power conferences Pac-12, SEC and Big Ten.

Winners Announced for Urban Bourbon Half Marathon and Corporate Challenge

Louisville, KY – October 24, 2015 – With nearly 3,200 registered participants, the Louisville Sports Commission’s Urban Bourbon Half Marathon went off this morning under cool, cloudy skies at race start.

Patrick Hynes of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s half marathon in a time of 1:15:24.7, edging second-place finisher Rizik Lado of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time of 1:16:16.4. Taryn Sheehan of Louisville, Ky., won the women’s half marathon in 1:24:27.9, just beating Katie Casto Hynes of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 1:28:41.5.

Colorado Men, Michigan Women Win Cross Country Pre-Nationals in Louisville

Thomas Curtin of Virginia Tech, Erin Clark of Colorado Take Individual Honors

 Louisville, Ky. – October 17, 2015 – Under sunny skies and temperatures in the mid-40s, Thomas Curtin of Virginia Tech and Erin Clark of Colorado were individual winners in the men’s and women’s races at the NCAA Division I Cross Country Pre-Nationals today at E.P. “Tom” Sawyer State Park. Two-time defending champion Colorado won the men’s team title and Michigan won the women’s team title.

USA Cycling Announces 2016-2017 Amateur Road National Championships Coming to Louisville

Competition Will Attract 1,000 Youth Cyclists to Louisville Each Year

Louisville, Ky., – October 16, 2015 – USA Cycling announced today that it has selected Louisville to host the 2016 and 2017 Amateur Road National Championships for men’s and women’s 9-23 divisions as well as the men’s Open Category 1 division.

The competition is comprised of a time trial, road race and criterium that will be held over four days at three different locations spanning late June and early July. In 2016, the time trial will be held June 30 in Taylorsville; the road race will be held July 1-2 at Cherokee Park; and the criterium will be held July 3 at Norton Commons. Approximately 1,000 athletes are expected to participate in the Road Nationals in 2016.
