After 150 Kentucky Derbys, Louisville Knows Sports

SportsFest presented by Baptist Health returns to Kentucky Expo Center Jan. 6-7

Interactive, family-friendly sports event designed to engage kids and help them get active

Louisville, Ky. – December 12, 2017 – The Louisville Sports Commission announced today that it has partnered with Talgrace Marketing, a Louisville-based marketing company, to produce SportsFest presented by Baptist Health. This interactive sports festival will be held Jan. 6-7, 2018, at the Kentucky Expo Center. This will be the second year the event has been held.

Designed to get kids active and introduce them to a variety of sports, SportsFest is a family-friendly sports experience that provides youth ages six to 13 opportunities to participate in numerous sports, learn more about the sports they like, and sign up for instruction or leagues – all under one roof. The show floor will feature more than 20 interactive sports experiences where children are encouraged to complete every station. Participants will be given a lanyard and an official SportsFest badge that will get checked off for every experience area in which the kids participate. Those who complete all of the stations will receive a Master Sports Fest Wrist Band.

“Earlier this year, we launched our Louisville Active initiative, which is meant to help promote a culture of active lifestyles in our community,” said Louisville Sports Commission President and CEO Karl F. Schmitt, Jr. “SportsFest is a great complement to this initiative in that SportsFest’s sole purpose is introducing youth to a multitude of sports opportunities available to them in the Louisville region.”

“After the success we experienced in our first year of offering SportsFest, we knew finding the right partner would enable us to grow the event and reach even more families,” said Teague Ridge, Talgrace creative director. “We believe partnering with the Louisville Sports Commission can help both our organizations achieve our shared goal of promoting sports as a way to become active.  Our experience in youth sports coupled with the Sports Commission’s expertise in managing sports events is a winning combination.”

Interactive showcases will be offered throughout the weekend for various sports. SportsFest also will feature autograph sessions, giveaways, and exhibitors in addition to interactive displays from the Indianapolis Colts, Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory, and Kentucky Science Center.
