Down One Bourbon Bar & Restaurant to offer Special Bourbon Dinner for Urban Bourbon Half Marathon Participants

Louisville, Ky. – September 16, 2014 – The Louisville Sports Commission Urban Bourbon Half Marathon will pour into Louisville on October 25, 2014 and to finish it all off, Down One Bourbon Bar & Restaurant will offer a special bourbon-inspired dinner later that evening for a limited number of race participants.

The special Bourbon Half Marathon dinner is $60 per person and is offered in two seatings: 6 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. The price is all-inclusive of the four-course dinner, bourbon cocktails, tax and gratuity. Each seating is limited to 20 people and will include four courses paired with Evan Williams’ cocktails. Those interested can reserve a spot through the online registration at UrbanBourbonHalf.com.

The four-course dinner menu is as follows (note, a vegetarian option may be requested):

  • Roasted Pork Belly with Bourbon Soaked Prunes, Caramelized Apples, Roasted Squash and Apple Cider Reduction
    Cocktail: Evan Williams Cranberry-Apple Sour
  • Pan Seared Cobia with Bourbon Braised Onions, Gnocchi, Brussels and Roasted Garlic- Bacon Cream Sauce
    Cocktail: Evan Williams Bottled in Bond with Bacon and Smoke
  • Bourbon and Sorghum Braised Short Ribs of Beef with Roasted Root Vegetables and Natural Jus
    Cocktail: Evan Williams Single Barrel Manhattan- Rocks
  • Bourbon Raisin Bread Pudding with Bourbon Reduction and Vanilla Bean Ice Cream

“Our Urban Bourbon Half Marathon will highlight Louisville’s distinct bourbon heritage,” said Karl Schmitt, executive director of the Louisville Sports Commission. “Down One Bourbon Bar & Restaurant is located squarely in the middle of Louisville’s historic Whiskey Row, making it the perfect location for our runners to top off their half marathon finish with a superb, bourbon-inspired dining experience.”

Down One Bourbon Bar & Restaurant was recently featured in National Geographic Magazine’s “Best in the World: Must-See Places for 2014”.

Down One Bourbon Bar & Restaurant is adjacent to the Galt House Hotel, the official hotel of the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon. The Galt House Hotel is offering a special rate to participants of the race of $129 in the Rivue Tower, or $139 in the Suite Tower on both Friday and Saturday night. The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon’s 13.1-mile course pours through the settings that make Louisville unique – starting at the historic Whiskey Row, and finishing on Main Street in front of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience, showcasing 200 years of bourbon heritage and culture in Louisville.
The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon is the final race in the Louisville Sports Commissions Fall Runathon. Runners must be 21 or older by October 25, 2014, to participate. The Fall Runathon includes two family-friendly races that offer Louisville-centric routes. The fourth annual Louisville pure tap® 5k was held September 6 at the historic Louisville Water Tower. The Norton Sports Health Great Pumpkin 10k returns for its second year on October 4 at the Parklands at Floyds Fork.
