After 150 Kentucky Derbys, Louisville Knows Sports

Winners Announced for 2017 Urban Bourbon Half Marathon presented by Jim Beam®

Louisville, Ky. – October 21, 2017 – With more than 3,200 registered participants, the Louisville Sports Commission’s Urban Bourbon Half Marathon presented by Jim Beam® went off this morning under cool, sunny skies at race start.

Andrew Carnes of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s half marathon in a time of 1:08:45, edging second-place finisher Andy Knapp of Shelby, Ohio, who clocked a time of 1:09:04.

Carnes, an assistant professor in the Department of Exercise Science at Bellarmine University, ran track cross country at Kent State. He moved to Louisville in 2014. “I’m an avid runner and this is by far the best race and course to showcase Louisville,” said Carnes.

Madison Hibshman of St. Louis, Mo., won the women’s half marathon in 1:18:54, beating Chelsea Vane of Ellicott City, Md., who finished in 1:25:00.

Hibshman, a Wisconsin native who ran track cross country at the University of Portland, currently is in medical school in St Louis.

In the Team Challenge presented by ZirMed, Frost Brown Todd was the male team winner with a total time of 5:00:53; the Worst Pace Scenario! was the female team winner with a total time of 6:26:02; and E2+J was the co-ed team winner with a total time of 5:06:04.

MEN’S DIVISION     

First Place: Andrew Carnes of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 1:08:45

Second Place: Andy Knapp of Shelby Ohio, with a time of 1:09:04

Third Place: Adam Togami of Louisville, Ky., with a time of 1:10:10

WOMEN’S DIVISION

First Place: Madison Hibshman of St. Louis, Mo., with a time of 1:18:54

Second Place: Chelsea Vane of Ellicott City, Md., with a time of 1:25:00

Third Place: Angela Matthews of Westland, Mich., with a time of 1:25:15
