The VIP packet pick-up is available to the first 250 people who register and is designed to give participants an up-close and upscale bourbon experience. The cost is $50 per participant.

VIPs will pick up their race packet at the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience Speakeasy lounge, located at 528 W. Main St. in downtown Louisville, an official stop along the Kentucky Bourbon Trail. VIP packet pick-up will be held on Friday, Oct. 24, from 4 pm – 8 pm, and includes the following:

  • Complimentary hors d’oeuvres and bourbon cocktail.
  • Tastings of select premium Bourbons during complimentary tour of the Evan Williams Bourbon Experience. Each runner may have one guest join them on the tour for free; additional guests can tour at a discounted rate of $9.
  • Opportunity to purchase an Urban Bourbon Half Marathon commemorative bottle of 2004 Evan Williams Single Barrel Vintage Bourbon.
  • Charlie Downs, Evan Williams’ Artisanal Distiller, will be on-site to meet guests and sign the commemorative bottles.
  • Complimentary parking

“The Evan Williams Bourbon Experience has been a great addition to downtown’s urban bourbon landscape and we know the race participants who join us for the VIP packet pick-up will have a memorable time,” said Karl Schmitt, executive director of the Louisville Sports Commission. “We are continually looking for ways to heighten the experience for those running in our Urban Bourbon Half Marathon, and we are delighted to have the occasion to showcase the bourbon that inspired this year’s race medal.”

The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon celebrates and promotes 200 years of Louisville and Kentucky distilling history; combined with a half marathon route that showcases one of Louisville’s most scenic parks and provides a distinct downtown running experience. The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon is restricted to those age 21 and older; participants must be 21 by Oct. 25, 2014.

The traditional packet pickup for Urban Bourbon Half Marathon registrants, which includes an Evan Williams bourbon tasting, will be held at Louisville Slugger Field Oct. 23-24.

The Urban Bourbon Half Marathon is the final race in the Louisville Sports Commissions Fall Runathon. The Fall Runathon kicks off with two family-friendly races that offer Louisville-centric routes. The fourth annual Louisville pure tap® 5k will be held Sept. 6 at the historic Louisville Water Tower.
