J.J. Weaver Earns 14th Annual Howard Schnellenberger MVP Award

Award Given to MVP on Winning Team in Annual UofL vs UK Kentucky Governor’s Cup

Louisville, Ky. – Nov. 25, 2023 – Kentucky senior linebacker J.J. Weaver earned the 2023 Howard Schnellenberger MVP Award by recovering two fumbles in the second half as the Wildcats battled back from a 10-point deficit for a 38-31 road win over Louisville at L&N Stadium.

Weaver was selected by a vote of the working media covering the game as the MVP of the annual Governor’s Cup matchup between UK and UofL.

Winners Announced for the Urban Bourbon Half Marathon

Louisville, Ky. – Oct. 14, 2023 – With nearly 2,700 registered participants, the Louisville Sports Commission’s Urban Bourbon Half Marathon went off this morning under cool, overcast skies at race start.

Steven Matthews of Evansville, Ind., won the men’s division in a time of 1:10:38, edging second-place finisher Ali Faraji-Tajrishi of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time of 1:14:11. Caroline Gosser of Louisville, Ky., won the women’s division in 1:21:02, ahead of second-place finisher Sydney Larkin of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 1:23:50. Reagan Murphy of Louisville, Ky., won the non-binary division with a time of 2:13:46.

Winners Announced for the Norton Sports Health 4-Miler

Louisville, Ky. – Oct. 3, 2023 – With 550 registered participants, the sold-out Norton Sports Health 4-Miler went off Monday evening under clear conditions. The race was held in Iroquois Park with a course that took race participants through the Jack O’Lantern Spectacular trail to the finish line.

Seth Snider-Hayes of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s division in a time of 24:46.45, ahead of second-place finisher Eric Engelbrecht of Louisville, Ky., who clocked a time 25:49.67. Kat Percy of Louisville, Ky., won the women’s division in 27:52.00 beating Laura Berklite of Cincinnati, Ohio, who finished in 31:12.63. Ken Schuck won the non-binary division with a time of 38:37.05.

(Sept 19, 2023) – IRONMAN announced today that Louisville, Ky., will once again host an IRONMAN®-branded event with the new IRONMAN® 70.3® Louisville triathlon scheduled to take place on Sunday, Aug. 18, 2024. Louisville first hosted a full-distance IRONMAN triathlon from 2007 to 2019 and the new event brings this iconic Kentucky venue back to the IRONMAN 70.3 racing circuit. Winners announced for Louisville Pure Tap® 5K

Louisville, Ky. – Sept. 9, 2023 – With more than 300 registered participants, the annual Louisville Pure Tap® 5K went off this morning under cool, partly cloudy conditions at race start. Race participants followed a course that took them through Frederick Law Olmsted-designed Shawnee and Chickasaw Parks.

Kyle Bowling of Louisville, Ky., won the men’s division in a time of 16:51.02, ahead of second-place finisher Ethan Ennis, who clocked a time of 18:16.35. Megan Cole of Versailles, Ind., won the women’s division in 19:17.49, beating Maria Galvin of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 19:50.25. Sarah Brian won the non-binary division.
