Bellarmine University and the Louisville Sports Commission to Host NCAA Division II National Championships Fall Festival in Louisville

Bellarmine University and the Louisville Sports Commission will welcome more than 1,100 student-athletes to its city when it hosts the NCAA Division II National Championships Fall Festival in Louisville, Dec. 4-6.  Tickets will be available for purchase at the venues the week of the event.  For additional event information, please visit www.ncaa.com/diifestival.

This marks the third time that Bellarmine has hosted an NCAA Division II National Championships Festival.  The fall festival features six national champions crowned in one city during the week.  The overall event, which includes opening and closing ceremonies, student-athlete social lounges and community engagement activities, is structured to enhance the student-athlete experience for those who have earned berths to the Division II championships.  Bellarmine hosted the fall festival in 2010 and the spring festival in 2012.  There will also be close to 300 volunteers from the city participating to make the event a success.

Pac-12 Lands Two Players; Big 12, Big Ten and SEC Land One Each

Louisville, KY – Thursday, November 20, 2014 – Four offensive stars who perform double duty on special teams and a two-way “runningbacker” have been named finalists for the Fifth Annual Paul Hornung Award, presented by Texas Roadhouse and given annually to the most versatile player in major college football. The five players represent four power conferences: the Pac 12, Big 12, SEC and Big 10.

Howard Schnellenberger Named to Paul Hornung Award Selection Committee

Louisville, Ky. – November 14, 2014 – Howard Schnellenberger, the very successful, longtime college and NFL coach – and former high school teammate of Paul Hornung – has been named the 16th member of the Paul Hornung Award Selection Committee. The Award is presented by Texas Roadhouse and given annually by the Louisville Sports Commission to the most versatile player in major college football.

Winners Announced for Urban Bourbon Half Marathon and Sam Swope Fiat Corporate Challenge

Louisville, KY – October 25, 2014 – With nearly 3,400 registered participants, the Louisville Sports Commission’s Urban Bourbon Half Marathon went off this morning under cool, cloudy skies at race start.

Michael Moore of LaGrange, Ill., won the men’s half marathon in a time of 1:14:46.02, edging second-place finisher Mike Horan of Goshen, Ky., who clocked a time of 1:15:43.88. Dani Fischer of Wausau, Wis. won the women’s half marathon in 1:21:56.75, just beating Cara Gaines of Louisville, Ky., who finished in 1:23:49.82.

Run Eva Bandman Puts Runners on World-Class Cyclocross Course

Louisville, Ky. – October 23, 2014 – The Louisville Sports Commission and Cadence Sports announced today the creation of Run Eva Bandman presented by VO2 Multisport – a new challenge event that allows runners/walkers to compete on a world-class cyclocross course that traverses pavement, grass, wooded trails, sand, stone steps, obstacles and steep hills. The event will be held on Nov. 8. at Eva Bandman Park, the site of the 2013 UCI Cyclocross World Championships and the 2012 UCI Masters Cyclocross World Championships.
