World-class canine athletes vying to be "Top Dog"!
LOUISVILLE, KY (Sept. 30, 2010) - The U.S. Dog Agility Association is pleased to bring the world championships of dog agility - the Cynosport® World Games Dog Agility Championships - to the Kentucky Fair and Expo Center Oct. 12 - 17. This is the first time the Games will be held in Louisville and the action will be non-stop, featuring close to one thousand dog-handler teams from around the world.
Competitors have been working all year to earn a shot at the most coveted prize in the sport of dog agility - the Grand Prix of Dog Agility® World Champion and compete for top dollar in the $10,000 Dog Agility Steeplechase®.
Dog agility is an exciting and visual sport pitting one dog and handler team against another in a race against the clock. Handlers navigate their dogs through a never-before seen obstacle course consisting of an A-frame, see-saw, hurdles of all kinds, tunnels and "slalom" weave poles while pushing to turn in the fastest time and avoid faults along the way. The team with the fastest time and fewest faults is crowned the world champion.
Cynosport®, pronounced see-no-sport, World Games is similar to a canine festival. "Cyno" is Latin for dog and everything about Cynosport® is geared for the entire family, including the dog!
The Cynosport® World Games also features many pet-related vendors and other exciting dog sports like dock jumping and lure coursing where you can get some "paws-on" experience with you own dog.
Dock jumping is where dogs of all shapes and sizes compete for the furthest jump into a swimming pool. If your dog is more into chasing fuzzy things, then lure coursing is the place to be to watch dogs race around a course chasing a squirrel on a string. Of course there also will be an agility course for you to test your dog's ability at the fastest growing canine sport in the country.
CYNOSPORT is the ultimate canine sporting event in the country. For more information visit www.cynosport.com or call 888-AGILITY (244-5489).
