Five Outstanding Individuals Selected to Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame Class of 2023

Selections Represent Basketball, Football, Media and Administration

Louisville, Ky. – May 24, 2023 – Five individuals with strong Kentucky connections who have made outstanding contributions to sports have been selected for the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame (KSHOF) Class of 2023, representing the 60th anniversary of the KSHOF.

The announcement was made today at a press briefing at Freedom Hall by the Louisville Sports Commission, owners and operators of the KSHOF.

Louisville Sports Commission honored for Event Impact of the Year

Award recognizes Organization’s Louisville Active Initiative

Louisville, Ky. – May 10, 2023 – Louisville Active, a hands-on, community health and wellness initiative operated by the Louisville Sports Commission (LSC), was honored as Event or Program Impact of the Year by Sports ETA, the sports events and tourism industry trade association. The LSC was one of 10 awardees honored today among the 600 Sports ETA member organizations nationwide.

Louisville Sports Commission Golden Ticket Winner Drawn on WHAS11 News

Louisville, Ky. – May 2, 2023 – Tracy Desmarais is the winner of the Louisville Sports Commission’s 13th annual Golden Ticket raffle. Jim Stratman, WHAS 11 News anchor, drew Desmarais’ ticket this morning from the backside of Churchill Downs.

Desmarais purchased one of 350 available raffle tickets for $100 and won the Golden Ticket grand prize, which consists of two tickets to each of the following sporting events:

Award-Winning Journalist Jeremy Schaap will be Featured Speaker at Paul Hornung Award Ceremony

Event Will Honor Oregon State’s Jack Colletto as the Most Versatile Player in Major College Football

Louisville, Ky. – Feb. 9, 2023 – ESPN award-winning commentator and celebrated author Jeremy Schaap will be the featured speaker at the 13th annual Paul Hornung Award Ceremony to be held on March 14, 2023, at the Galt House Hotel in downtown Louisville.

The 2022 Paul Hornung Award winner, Oregon State quarterback-fullback-linebacker-special teams ace Jack Colletto, will be the honored guest at the Ceremony. Nicknamed “The Jackhammer,” Colletto earned a mechanical engineer degree at Oregon State while playing 10 different positions on offense, defense and special teams as a senior and helping lead the Beavers to a 10-3 record and victory in the Las Vegas Bowl. The Paul Hornung Award presented by Texas Roadhouse is given annually to the most versatile player in major college football and pays tribute to the late football legend and Louisville native Paul Hornung.

Applications Now Being Accepted for 2023 Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame

Louisville, Ky. – Jan. 24, 2023 – The Louisville Sports Commission is accepting nominations for the Kentucky Sports Hall of Fame (KSHOF) through March 31, 2023. Eligibility and selection criteria and the nomination form can be accessed online at KySportsHOF.com.

Nominations received by March 31 that meet the Selection Criteria will be placed in a pool for consideration for the KSHOF Class of 2023.
