Greater Louisville Sports Commission FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE Nov. 9 - Ryder Cup, Derby and U.S. Open Tennis and future Hall of Famer Ken Griffey, Jr.
The highlight of the event will be the presentation of the Louisville Slugger Museum & Factory Living Legend Award to Ken Griffey, Jr. The award will be presented by his father, Cincinnati Reds great, Ken Griffey, Sr. The evening of baseball entertainment includes live entertainment by the '60s sensation, The Platters. Former Major League Baseball great, Jim "Mudcat" Grant (formerly with the Los Angeles Dodgers), will perform music by Lou Rawls. Also enjoy the Sounds of Sinatra, by the Nostalgics. A fantastic buffet catered by Masterson's, martini and bourbon bars, and one-of-a kind auction items will be on hand. Limited tickets are still available, so please RSVP to bid on great auction items (see attached auction list and invitation) by contacting Jennifer Bell at: jbell@louisvillesports.org. The proceeds from the event will help the Greater Louisville Sports Commission bring many more sporting events to Louisville . This past year alone the GLSC hosted the National Senior Games, Ford Ironman Louisville, AVP Volleyball Tour, and U.S. Figure Skating. The GLSC is now working on bids to host several NCAA Championships, U.S. Masters Cycling, USGP of Cyclocross, and an LPGA Tour stop and many other exciting events.
