Louisville to Host 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Eastern Great Lakes Regional Championships

Louisville , Kentucky - For the first time ever, U.S. Figure Skating has selected a location in Kentucky to hold a major qualifying competition.
Louisville Skating Academy (LSA), in association with Greater Louisville Sports Commission as the local sponsor, will host U.S. Figure Skating's
Eastern Great Lakes Regional Championships on October 1 - 6, 2007 at Iceland Sports Complex.

Approximately 500 young amateur figure skaters from Kentucky, Ohio, Indiana, Michigan, Tennessee, Mississippi and Alabama will compete for regional championship titles and the opportunity to continue to national-level competition. LSA will be represented by ten
athletes at this qualifying event.

The championships are the first step in the qualifying process leading to the 2008 U.S. Figure Skating Championships in January. Michelle Kwan, Sasha Cohen, Evan Lysacek and Eastern Great Lakes skater Alyssa Czisny, the 2007 U.S. senior ladies bronze medalist, all began their quests for national and international titles at U.S. Figure Skating regional championships. U.S. Figure Skating has partnered with MLB Advanced Media (MLBAM), the interactive media and Internet company
