Partner for November 12 Half Marathon

Louisville Crashers to Play at Post-Race Party

Louisville, KY – November 4, 2011 – Louisville Sports Commission and Mom’s Music have partnered to provide live musical entertainment for the Louisville Sports Commission Half Marathon and Louisville pure tap® 5K, including a concert by the Louisville Crashers at the post-race event at the Belvedere.

Mom’s Music has agreed to make available six Louisville-based bands that will be placed at strategic points along the half marathon and 5K routes. The bands will provide high-energy entertainment to support the runners and walkers as they continue on to the finish line. In addition, the Louisville Crashers have committed to play at the post-race event on the Belvedere from 9:30 a.m. until 1:00 p.m.

“We are working hard to ensure our half marathon runners and 5K walkers enjoy a high energy, race day experience,” said Louisville Sports Commission Executive Director Karl Schmitt. "What better way to make that happen than to have live musical entertainment to keep everyone engaged and looking forward to what the next band on the route will offer."

“We’re very excited to be part of the inaugural Louisville Sports Commission Half Marathon and Louisville pure tap® 5K,” said Mom’s Music Owner Mark Maxwell. “This opportunity to be the official provider of musical entertainment is right in line with our mission to promote music and musicians throughout the Louisville region. Personally, I’m also very excited to be able to play a concert on the Belvedere and jam with the other bands once they’ve finished playing on the course.”

Below is a list of the bands and where they will be performing:

Louisville Sports Commission Half Marathon:

  -- Highway 42 – Will play at Baxter and Liberty Streets (Mile 1.5 and 8.6) from 8:00 AM to 10:45 AM (variety of 80’s, 90’s, 00’s pop/rock/country)

  -- The Hi-Tops – Will play at the Girl Scouts Headquarters on Lexington Road (Mile 2.5) from 8:00 AM to 9:15 AM (pop, rock)

  -- Juice Box Hero’s – Will play at Dog Hill (Mile 5.6) from 8:30 AM to 10:00 AM (Top 40)

  -- Rachael Timberlake – Will play at River City Canoe and Kayak on Cherokee Road (Mile 8) from 8:40 AM to 10:10 AM (top country)

  -- Soul Circus - Will play at the northeast corner of 7^th and Liberty Streets in Memorial Park (Mile 10.1) from 8:50 AM to 10:50 AM (soul, funk, rockin’ blues)

Louisville pure tap 5K®

  -- Black Magic Marker – Will play at the lot at 10^th Street and River Road (Mile 1.1 and 2.6) from 7:30 AM to 8:30 AM (classic rock)                                                                                                                           

Post-Race Party Entertainment

  -- The Louisville Crashers – Will play at the Belvedere from 9:30 AM to 1:00 PM (pop, rock, country, R&B, hip-hop, Motown)

Registration for the Louisville Sports Commission Half Marathon has been extended through November 7. Registrations for the pure tap® 5K continues through race day. The event is open to both runners and walkers. To register, or for more information, log on to www.lscmarathon.com.
