Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield Team Up

To Offer Half Marathon Corporate Challenge

(LOUISVILLE, KY) – The Louisville Sports Commission (LSC) and Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield have partnered to create the Anthem Corporate Challenge as part of the inaugural LSC Half Marathon. The LSC Half Marathon is a new local race that will be held on a course that starts and finishes in downtown Louisville and winds through the Scenic Loop in Cherokee Park.

Each company participating in the Anthem Corporate Challenge will be allowed up to five entries into the Half Marathon. Each company team will be scored cross country style with the three best-finishers counting toward the standings. The winning team receives a trophy and city-wide bragging rights.

All participants in the Anthem Corporate Challenge will receive the same medal and shirts as other half marathon participants as well as a specially branded Anthem Corporate Challenge shirt. In addition, Corporate Challenge participants will have access to the LSC Half Marathon VIP post-race party at the Belvedere.

“The Anthem Corporate Challenge capitalizes on the increasing popularity of running as a sport and helps convey to our community the importance of a healthy, active lifestyle,” said Deb Moessner, president of Anthem Blue Cross and Blue Shield in Kentucky. “Team Anthem is looking forward to this friendly competition, and I encourage area employers and employees to join in the fun.”

Louisville Sports Commission Executive Director Karl Schmitt agreed. “I believe the Anthem Corporate Challenge will be a very popular component of our half marathon,” said Schmitt. “Many people who participate in running events are competitive by nature and a cross country scoring system creates a race within a race. Over time, we believe the Anthem Corporate Challenge will be a source of pride in the local business community.”
