Cal Ripken and Babe Ruth Baseball Gear Up for Regional Competition in Louisville

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (July 20, 2010) – Eighteen teams from six states will head to Bob Myers Complex Thursday, July 22nd for the opening ceremonies of the 2010 Ohio Valley Regional Tournament.
The qualifying teams from Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Michigan and Wisconsin will take it to the field for the title of Regional champion beginning play Friday July 23rd at 10:00 a.m. In order to qualify for the tournament, these teams had to place in the top three spots of their division. Not only will these 9- year-old athletes battle for the glory of the win, there will also be a Home Run Derby and Opening Ceremony for the tournament participants. The Bob Meyers Complex is home to the Okolona baseball program and is located behind Southern High School on Preston Highway.
“We’re excited to be selected as the host of this great tournament,” said Okolona Cal Ripken Baseball President, Duane Ensor. “The Okolona baseball program has been around for 52 years. We are proud of our long standing relationship with Cal Ripken/Babe Ruth Baseball, Inc.”
Adult tournament passes are good for admittance to all games and can be purchased for $20, or daily admission is available at the door for $7 a day. For youth ages 6-15 years-old, passes can be purchased for the entire tournament for $10 or daily for $3. Children six years and under are free.
This week-long event will generate over 400 hotel room reservations and have an estimated economic impact of over $76,000 on the Louisville metro area.
